Plant Details and use

HABITAT
Generally grows as secondary regrowth at forest edges, in thickets, open grassland, along forest trains, seasonal swamps and dried-up watercourses to altitudes of 3000 metres.

Used as toothbrush, toothpaste
The Duruma community uses it to treat leprosy. Dry, bake to charcoal, crush and apply on the afflicted areas. 
It is also used for the treatment of wounds. Burnt ash from the leaves to accelerate healing. To stop bleeding clean roots are chewed and applied in cuts.
For bad breath, dry leaves of the powder are ground and used as toothpaste
