Plant Details and use

Fresh aerial parts (leaves, stems, and sometimes flowers) are collected and thoroughly washed to remove dirt. The plant material is then shade-dried until most of the moisture is lost.

The dried plant parts are ground into a fine powder. For a decoction, a measured amount of this powder is boiled in water (often in a ratio of about 1:5, weight to volume) for several minutes until the water becomes colored and the active compounds are extracted.

The resulting decoction is typically filtered and allowed to cool. It is then consumed orally as a remedy for various ailments. Traditional uses include treatment for pain, stomachache, swelling, and sometimes as a lactation stimulant in veterinary contexts.
