Plant Details and use

Uses in different Communities

In the Luo community, it is used to initiate walking in children who are unable to walk (Woyo). The leaves are smashed and made into a paste using ghee from milk, a child is massaged with especially in the joints and nervous areas.
Among the Kikuyus, it is used for bone fractures (Kuuneka). A paste made from the smashed leaves is mixed with oil or jelly and then used by specialists to set the bone that has dislocated and minor fractures.

In the Nandi community, it is used to manage internal Piles. The whole plant is smashed and boiled for 20 minutes then after cooling it is administered half a glass three times a day before meals.
