The plant is used in the management of wounds and burns, the gel is applied on the wound or burn. For malaria, a handful of the crushed roots is steeped in 1 liter of cold boiled water for 15 minutes. It is then strained and drink 2 or 3 cupful daily for 5-7 days. For candida infections, the fresh smashed leaves are applied to the affected areas 2-3 times a day for 4-5 days.
