English: Cornstalk Dracaena, Borana: Butiye, Luhya: Lukhubu,

Family: Asparagaceae

It is used to treat Stomach pains. The roots are boiled and given to the sick person, half glass twice a day after every meal.
Among the Luhya, it is used to treat snake bites. Its tender leaves are crushed and applied on the bite. This prevents the movement of venom up the bloodstream. It also signifies peace and is planted at the entrance to a homestead.
