The plant is used for the management of HIV-related conditions. A handful of the chopped cleaned roots are boiled in 1lt of water for 10-15 mins. Leave to cool and filter. Take 1/2 a glass thrice daily after meals for 14 -15 days. It helps in reducing viral infections. For snake bites, the tender leaves are crushed and applied on the bites
Chew the roots and swallow the sap to ease child delivery and remove the retained placenta.
