In the Kisii community, its nectar is used to treat mouth soars in children by dropping the nectar into the child’s mouth. Its leaves are crushed, mixed with cold water, and given to the child to drink.
For treating candida infections, a handful of the leaves is soaked in 1l of water for 15-20 mins. It is then filtered and left to cool. Use it to bathe the affected areas.
For diarrhea, leaf infusion is used. A handful of leaves is infused in 1 liter of water. It is then drunk, ½ glass 3 x daily. For children up to 12 yrs., they are given ¼ glass; for up to 2 yrs.; ½ tsp).
