 Among the Luhya, its fruit is used to treat flu. The fruit is chewed. It is also boiled and drunk to control family feuds.
In the Maasai community, it is anti-inflammatory and cures colds/coughs, sore throat, and joints. It is prepared by immersing leaves or roots in boiled water or spice food/making soup. Gargle the decoction twice per day for sore throat.
